Criticism and Commentary

Brother Lu Wei’s "The Sequel to Old Brother Yan" is a portrait of a certain type of ordinary overseas Chinese family. This manifestation is serious and ruthless, very conspicuous, very clearly expressed, and these aspects are successful efforts. In these unhappy families, women are merely being forced to be living mates and are tools for sexual release and reproduction. People who embrace this kind of thinking should be hit hard at their weak points. These human dregs must be eradicated. Before they are eradicated, they must be clearly exposed for everyone to see their ugly sides and recognize the kind of people produced under this unreasonable social system. Based on this point, we can gain the true power of mass consciousness, and thus eradicate them and make improvements. This is the mission of these few works.

Brother Pu Yuan's "Chairman Hu" is a short, concise piece of satire of social figures. In such a short article, it clearly exposes the ugliness of ordinary meetings. There is no thorough communication skill, no determined perspective, no approval of good things, no opposition to bad things, and is always taking the premise of avoiding trouble as the premise. This is a generally strange phenomenon of Chinatown meetings.

Brother Huang Shen 's "Second Uncle Yu" seems to have been intended to be a realistic fiction like "Old Brother Yan", but the author treats these characters too well. The spirit of donating one's wealth to the country is not compatible with the environment.

The ending of "Old Brother Yan" is more reasonable. The only places where these people are willing to donate their own money are in public or in newspapers in order to gain attention and compete for honor, because their three-minute enthusiasm for saving the country has long been frozen. The author's intention is naturally to give good advice, and he always hopes that they are not like that. This idea is worthy of praise. The author also does not hesitate to attack corrupt people who abuse their power for personal gain, which is corrective in terms of the theme. However, I still have doubts regarding whether his observations on social figures are accurate. I hope the author will stick to his original intentions and work hard to write a more complete work. For those corrupt members who are detrimental to the future of society, we must strike them ruthlessly at their wounds and weak points. A writer should also be a warrior.

The three pieces above are a bit too simple in form and structure. At present when the literary world is still building its foundation, there is no criticism. However, I hope authors will work harder and spend more time creating relatively greater works. The scope should be expanded and the focus should be broader, so that there will be progress.
